Charles R. "Neighbor" AberFirst MRN Appearance: 1480 Neighbor Aber is a resident of Westood where he serves as Associate Mayor beside Mayor Maggie. Neighbor Aber was once married but is now divorced with children that he does not see as often as he would like.[1] Throughout Westwood and into the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Neighbor Aber uses his kindness and compassion in a variety of roles. He is an experienced pilot having flown helicoptors[2] and planes.[3] He has even done some skywriting.[4] Additionally, Neighbor Aber is often trusted to operate large vehicles such as a forklift[5] and a battery operated car.[6] Neighbor Aber is quite active as he enjoys basketball[7], scuba diving[8], snorkeling[9], physical fitness[10], and exploration.[11] He often dances throughout Make-Believe[12] and is always willing to lend a helpful hand whenever he can.[13] With a clear passion for the performing arts, Neighbor Aber has taken part in several Neighborhood opears and plays (see below) and occassionally finds himself in costume -- even outside of these performances. Wearing a clown costume, Neighbor Aber made deliveries for the Clown Delivery Service[14] and once spent sevearl days dressed as a gorilla to see what it felt like to be different than those around him.[15] He also has worn a wolf costume[16] and a King Friday costume.[17] Neighbor Aber's compassionate and helpful spirit can be seen in his relationship with those in Make-Believe -- especially with the children. He often talks with the young Neighbors about their feelings[18][19] and even provides care for Prince Tuesday when King Friday and Queen Sara are away.[20] On the other hand, Neighbor Aber's kindness can be misinterpretted as it was when Lady Elaine Fairchilde took his gift of a balloon ring as a symbol of their engagement to be married.[21] Neighbor Aber is the puppeteer and provides the voice for H.J. Elephant III who occassionally visits the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Images

NotesWhile the line between the two is sometimes unclear, for the sake of documentation on this site, "Chuck Aber" refers to the real neighborhood character portrayed by Aber and "Neighbor Aber" is used in reference to his appearances in Make-Believe. AppearancesMister Rogers' Neighborhood
