Mister Rogers arrives with a box full of buttons. Before telling viewers what is inside the box, he shares a film about buttons. In the kitchen, Mister Rogers finishes the puzzle he has been working on and then shows the many kinds of buttons he brought with him. Taking out a small plate, he plays a game where he tries to use one button to flip another onto the plate.
In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Vija Vetra is at the castle preparing to dance a button dance with a button band. Handyman Negri arrives to introduce the Royal Button Band which performs as Miss Vetra dances.
When everyone goes to the R Room for refreshments, X the Owl goes with to the Museum-Go-Round with Lady Elaine Fairchilde where she attempts to teach him a very confusing button game. When X becomes frustrated by the difficult game, Handyman Negri offers to play an easier game with him.
Back at the house, Mister Rogers sings The Clown in Me as he talks about how people sometimes act silly when they are uncomfortable.
