Episode 1513Topic: Games Mister Rogers arrives with a device which plugs into an electrical outlet and turns things on with the clap of the hands. Demonstrating the device with a lamp, Mister Rogers sings You've Got To Do It. Mr. McFeely stops by with a small remote-controlled robot and invites Mister Rogers to join him on a visit to where people make robots. At the robot factory, Tom Zaken provides a detailed demonstration of how some of his robots work. He then takes Mister Rogers and Mr. McFeely to the assembly area to see how the robots are put together. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, a robot is measuring the Neighborhood for the upcoming Olympic games. As it makes its way through the Neighborhood, the robot talks with Lady Elaine about her desire to win and need to be liked. Unfortunately, the robot does not understand the term "like." Moving on to the clock, Daniel talks to the robot about caring and playing. As Daniels mentions a game, the robot shows a short film on its front about that particular game. Saddened by the robot's sudden departure, Daniel expresses his disappointment to Handyman Negri. Handyman Negri reassures Daniel that it's great to have feelings and to be able to love others. Mr. Strothers stops by and builds a bit of excitement about the upcoming competitions. NotesIn the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, the robot measures Lady Elaine's lot at 3.14159 meters. This number happens to be the value used for pi. The films about sports shown on the robot's front include baseball (featuring Kent Tekulve of the Pittsburgh Pirates), football (featuring Lynn Swann of the Pittsburgh Steelers), and tennis (featuring Joanne Russell). The voice of the robot in Make-Believe, Robot 67 Bridge 2, was performed by David Wade.
