THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers | ||
Episode 1094 Air Date: March 12, 1970
In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Coach Saunders is inside the castle with his boys as they demonstrate various exercises for Queen Sara and King Friday. Coach Saunders shows pieces of athletic equipment used in football and baseball. When King Friday orders one of each piece for the new baby, Queen Sara and Coach Saunders have to explain that the baby would not be able to participate in such sports until he is much older. Handyman Negri arrives and informs King Friday that a castle window has been broken. When they discover that Lady Elaine Fairchilde has broken the window with her ball and bat, King Friday takes her bat away until she fixes the window. Back at the house, Mister Rogers shows different kinds of balls used in sports and talks about how each one is different. He concludes by singing You Are Special. NotesAs Coach Saunders and his sons exercise, Troll Talk and Everybody's Fancy play in the background. Coach Saunders' sons, Stephen and David, are 14 and 12 years old. The broken window at the castle is not part of the building's structure but rather a random window in the castle garden. As Lady Elaine says: "I don't remember seeing a window here before. [King Friday is] such a make-believe king he'd just put windows anywhere." The film about the letter B also appears in Episode 1116. Appearing In This Episode
