THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers

Chuckles the Clown

First MRN Appearance
Last MRN Appearance
Performed By
Jeff Gabel

Chuckles the Clown is a character portrayed by Neighborhood friend Jeff Gabel. Assisting Chef Brockett in his bakery, Mr. Gabel makes a fine strudel as he visits with Mister Rogers.[1]

On a visit to the circus[2], Mister Rogers and Betty Aberlin are given a behind-the-scenes view of the performers as they prepare for their big show. Part of the preparations include Mr. Gabel applying his make-up and transforming himself into Chuckles the Clown.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Chuckles the Clown visits with his friend Chef Brockett, who is also dressed as a clown. Chuckles' boisterous personality is somewhat startling to the shy Daniel Striped Tiger.
