King Friday XIII Celebrates (Album)Artist: Fred Rogers
DescriptionTelevision audiences all over the United States and Canada will recognize Misterogers and his Neighborhood of Make-Believe. King Friday XIII is the pompous monarch who celebrates his birthday each time:
The story on this record tells about one of King Friday's birthdays and how Daniel S. Tiger, X the Owl, Henrietta Pussycat and some of his other neighbors helped the king to celebrate. Fred Rogers is the creative artist who writes the stories and the songs and lends his voice to all the little people of the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. He and his puppet creations have communicated with children and their families on three of North America's major television networks. Currently producing for National Educational Television, Mr. Rogers is a graduate of Rollins College and Pittsburgh Theological Seminary where he is a visiting lecturer in children's work. He also acts as consultant at the Arsenal Child Study Center, an affiliate of the Pittsburgh Psychoanalytic Institute (University of Pittsburgh). He is also Director of Children's Work for Pittsburgh Presbytery's United Oakland Ministry. Mr. Rogers insists that close personal work and play with children is the most valuable preparation in creating for the young -- and the young at heart. John Reardon, King Friday's Royal Messenger, is one of the leading baritones of the Metropolitan Opera Company. At the age of 23, he sang his first major role with the New York City Center Opera Company and since then has performed in musical productions throughout the world. Mr. Reardon has recorded for Columbia Records, Decca, and RCA Victor. Track ListSide 1
