THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers | ||
Episode 1679Topic: Going Away & Coming Back Mister Rogers arrives with a piece of black pipe which he uses on the floor as a tunnel for a toy car and a small car. He sings Did You Know before Mr. McFeely arrives with a surprise video of the Speedy Delivery car being taken through a car wash. After watching the video, Mister Rogers takes the pipe to the backyard where a water table is set up in place of the sand table. Having just returned from a trip, Maggie Stewart stops by to give Mister Rogers an orange. She sings and signs Everything Grows Together. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Cousin Mary Owl reads the scrap of paper she found to King Friday confirming that a secret tunnel once existed in the Neighborhood -- "Once upon a time, there was a secret tunnel in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, but…" Lady Aberlin finds a similar scrap of paper in the castle's P Room. This one reads "...that tunnel got covered up by some..." At the Museum-Go-Round, Mayor Maggie gives Lady Elaine an old book about oranges for the museum. Inside the book, they find another paper being used as a bookmark. The scrap reads "...roots of a great big tree." The message is now complete: "Once upon a time, there was a secret tunnel in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, but that tunnel got covered up by some roots of a great big tree." Back at the house, Mister Rogers shares a book called A Walk with Abuela.
