Misterogers (CBC, 3/11/1964)
Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: March 11, 1964
Mister Rogers has made a get well card for King Friday XIII which he delivers by way of the Trolley.
In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Captain Blye accepts the Trolley delivery before being called to the Rockit Factory. Corney asks about King Friday's condition and learns that he is feeling better after recently eating too much candy. Captain Blye mentions that things are much happier in the Neighborhood and sings Won't You Be My Neighbor. Corney offers to provide chairs for the kings upcoming birthday celebration.
Moving on, Captain Blye finds Lady Elaine Fairchilde hiding at the Museum-Go-Round and clearly up to some sort of mischief. She reveals that she has been coming to the museum when it's closed to read about King Friday as she prepares a special gift for his birthday -- a play about the king's younger days. Lady Elaine will play the part of King Friday's mother and Captain Blye is surprised to learn he has been assigned the role of the king's father. Lady Elaine instructs Captain Blye to inform X the Owl and Mrs. Frogg that they will also have parts in her play.
Captain Blye sings It's an Ugly Day as he walks to the oak tree. X is informed of his role by Captain Blye just before Lady Elaine arrives at the tree herself. She goes on to tell X that his role will be that of King Friday's childhood playmate while Mrs. Frogg will play the part of a governess. The play will be titled "This is Your Knife."
Back at the house, Mister Rogers wonders about the play and its unusual title.
Notes
Holding the card he made for King Friday, Mister Rogers also shows a picture of the supplies he used to make the card. He mentions that "Bud drew that picture of paste and scissors and crayons." Possibly Bud Alder?
