Misterogers (CBC, 1/30/1964)Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Mister Rogers shares a variety of objects which represent nursery rhymes such as Little Jack Horner, There Was an Old Woman Who Lived in a Shoe, and Jack Be Nimble. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Daphne Entwistle is acting as Mother Goose. She meets Daniel Striped Tiger who shares with her some of his freshly made fudge. Ms. Entwistle mentions that she is looking for information about nursery rhymes as she would like to know what happened to each character after the rhymes ended. Daniel suggests she speak with X the Owl. At the tree, Ms. Entwistle discusses nursery rhymes with X who then sings Find a Star. X goes on to refer Ms. Entwistle to King Friday XIII for more information about Humpty Dumpty. At the castle, King Friday reveals that it was his horses and men who attempted to repair the famously broken Humpty Dumpty: “Humpty was my egg head.” Unfortunately, his horses and men didn’t try very hard so it was King Friday who ultimately had to put Humpty back together. Edgar Cooke retrieves Humpty Dumpty from inside the castle before Ms. Entwistle is invited to the castle’s T Room for tea. Back with Mister Rogers, the visit is quickly concluded as he bid viewers farewell. Notes
