Misterogers (CBC, 1/29/1964)

Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: January 29, 1964

Mister Rogers has been working on the creation of a new flag as requested by King Friday XIII. He shares a few of his designs and encourages viewers to create their own with their families. Viewers are able to send their flags to King Friday and he will select some flags for display. Mister Rogers sings I Like You As You Are.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Joey Hollingsworth is working at the Rockit factory with Corney as they package rockits for selling. Corney has been thinking about King Friday’s flags and would like to make something that would allow him to display multiple designs.

At the clock, Daniel Striped Tiger asks Mr. Hollingsworth to help him decide on a flag design for King Friday. Mr. Hollingsworth offers him several options as he suggests that a flag should “say something about the place it’s flying over.”

Returning to the factory, Mr. Hollingsworth suggests to Corney that multiple flags could be displayed on a series of steps. As Corney imagines what that might look like, he visualizes Mr. Hollingsworth dancing on the steps with multiple flags on display behind him.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers shares the address where viewers can send their flags for King Friday.
