Misterogers (CBC, 1/23/1964)

Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: January 23, 1964

Mister Rogers has a myna bird with him today and mentions that the bird is happy in its birdcage. He sings Every Minute of Today.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Elan Stuart is looking for X the Owl but finds only Tadpole Frogg at the tree. Tad is also looking for X in hopes of playing a game of “owl and tadpole.” Ms. Stuart has come to teach X a song and finds him looking through the card catalog at the Museum-Go-Round. X is searching for the words to a song often sung by Henrietta Pussycat – Who’s So True By Lou. Ms. Stuart happily teaches the song to X.

Tadpole Frogg arrives at the Museum-Go-Round and retrieves a songbook from his mother. He asks Ms. Stuart to sing a specific song from the book – I Like You As You Are.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers sings more of I Like You As You Are.

Notes

The bird with Mister Rogers can be heard squawking during the opening song.

The songbook used by Tadpole and Ms. Stuart is a copy of the “Tomorrow on the Children’s Corner" songbook.
