Misterogers (CBC, 1/22/1964)

Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: January 22, 1964

Mister Rogers has a toy top and greets viewers with “top of the morning.” After asking what viewers might say when they get up in the morning he sings It’s Morning. Next, Mister Rogers shares a drawing by a viewer named Judy from “way out in Saskatchewan” of her and her dog taking a walk in the morning. A Dachshund named Schnapps is with Mister Rogers and he gives him a treat.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, the Museum-Go-Round will not stop spinning and Captain Blye attempts to help. X the Owl arrives singing What Would You Like To Do Today and suggests simply asking the Museum-Go-Round to stop. When this doesn’t work, his next suggestion is to work together by blowing in the opposite direction that the museum is spinning. Unfortunately, they blow too hard and the spinning just moves in the other direction.

Once they find the precise amount of force to use with their blowing, they are able to stop the Museum-Go-Round from spinning long enough for X to go inside and temporarily fix the problem. After being thanked for his assistance by Captain Blye and Mrs. Frogg, X the Owl sings Fine Feathered Friend. Captain Blye agrees to use the tools from his plane to try and repair the Museum-Go-Round in order to prevent future spinning mishaps.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers talks about how viewers might spend the rest of the day. He concludes by singing Tomorrow.
