Misterogers (CBC, 1/21/1964)

Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: January 21, 1964

Mister Rogers introduces viewers to a white persian cat named Ora. As he pets Ora, he sings Won’t You Be My Neighbor.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Donna Miller is helping Tadpole Frogg learn to ice skate. After he falls a few times, Tad sings Sad Tad. Miss Miller shares words of encouragement and Tad begins to show great improvement.

Moving on to the Eiffel Tower, Miss Miller finds that Grandpere has a dollhouse set up outside. Together they sing a brief song counting to ten in French. Using a collection of family figures with the dollhouse, Miss Miller and Grandpere go over French words for the members of a typical family. Before she departs, Miss Miller sings another song with Grandpere – Les Jours De La Semaine.

Taking the figures to the Frogg pond, Miss Miller talks more with Tad about growing up – just like the baby in the pretend family will do.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers talks about how Ora was once a kitten. He uses French words to tell viewers how much he likes them and that he will see them tomorrow.

Notes

The cat with Mister Rogers is named Ora which is a Latin name meaning "prayer."

Tad plays outside the Museum-Go-Round during the credits in this episode.
