Misterogers (CBC, 12/23/1963)

Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: December 23, 1963

Mister Rogers opens with a quick game of "knock on your floor and I'll open my door" followed by a mention of his door being decorated for Christmas. In addition to his suggestion that he likes fruit at Christmastime, Mister Rogers reminds viewers that X the Owl especially likes oranges. He calls the Trolley which if fully accessorized with Christmas wreaths and garland.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Donna Miller sings I Know It's Time For Christmas as a gift to Tadpole Frogg. When he asks for ideas for gifts he can give to his new neighbors, Ms. Miller suggests he give them all good wishes.

Moving on to the clock, Daniel Striped Tiger gives Ms. Miller a gift he's been saving for someone special -- the core from the best apple he's ever eaten.

At the oak tree, X the Owl has his stocking hung outside his door so the "orange bringer" knows where to put the orange -- his regular Christmas gift of choice. After X gifts Ms. Miller with a poem, she returns the holiday favor by singing Every Minute of Today (The Happy Song).

Lastly, at the castle, Edgar Cooke informs Ms. Miller that King Friday is upset because he was not aware that she was coming with a gift. When Ms. Miller tells the king that the gift is a song, he refers to it as a "pretend gift." Ms. Miller reminds him that gifts do not have to be expensive and sings I Know It's Time For Christmas. King Friday reciprocates with a gift for Ms. Miller -- a card with his autograph. Daniel arrives at the castle with apples to share as King Friday departs for a meeting.

Notes

X the Owl's poem for Donna Miller:

Donna Miller is a diller
And we like her just fine
Donna stiller is a Miller
And that ends this rhyme ... which I'm giving her for Christmas
