Misterogers (CBC, 12/19/1963)

Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: December 19, 1963

Mister Rogers shows a pair of children's shoes and suggests some people walk in their shoes and other dance in theirs. As he makes the shoes dance, he sings the Why Hi Song.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Joey Hollingsworth dances his way to Daniel's clock. Having been taught by his mother to never play with wild animals, Mr. Hollingsworth is fearful of Daniel Striped Tiger at first, but is relieved to find that Daniel is a tame tiger. Daniel sings I'm Tame before going inside his clock and inviting Mr. Hollingsworth to use the knocker on the outside. When he does, Mr. Hollingsworth is surprised to find that Daniel has exited through the clock's back door and is now inside Henrietta Pussycat's door at the oak tree.

At the tree, Mr. Hollingsworth meets X the Owl who sings You're a Fine Feathered Friend. A dancing salesman by trade, Mr. Hollingsworth inquires about interest from Daniel or X in purchasing some spoons. Having enough spoons of their own, they suggest he talk with King Friday XIII about a possible purchase.

At the castle, Mr. Hollingworth demonstrates for King Friday how a person can use spoons to play music.

Back at the house, Mister Rogers sings the So Long Song.

Notes

Dancing with the shoes, Mister Rogers slightly modifies the words to the Why Hi Song to say "Hello, my name is Shoe-Shoe."

A brief poem from X the Owl as he greets Mr. Hollingsworth: "I think I will never see a tree as nice as poetry."

During the credits, Mr. Hollingsworth is seen dancing for King Friday XIII.
