Misterogers (CBC, 12/4/1963)

Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: December 4, 1963

Mister Rogers uses bunting and ribbon to decorate the Trolley in celebration of the new Rockit factory's grand opening.

In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Donna Miller sings Won't You Be My Neighbor on her way to Daniel Striped Tiger's clock where she and Daniel talk about the exciting plans for the day. Daniel will be in charge of safety -- specifically, if any sort of fire were to break out. Ms. Miller is given "owl cheer up duties" as X the Owl is nervous about reciting the poem he has written. At the tree, Ms. Miller encourages X to "smile inside" which helps him when it comes time to share.

At the Rockit factory, everyone arrives for the grand opening and the festivities begin. Donna Miller gives Cornflake S. Pecially a replica of the first Rockit he ever made. X the Owl shares his poem and Henrietta Pussycat displays her award-winning beauty as she walks across the platform. King Friday XIII sings Propel Propel Propel Your Craft followed by some inspirational royal commentary:

"If it were not for my gracious spirit, this factory would not be opening today. Everyone owes much to me. Much, too much, for us to enumerate today. May the factory prosper. Long live the king."

Corney concludes the ceremony by offering his thanks before pulling a lever that fires a celebratory shot from the Eiffel Tower and starts the machines inside the factory.

Notes

Instead of encouraging X the Owl with the common phrase "chin up," Donna Miller encourages him to keep his "beak up."

Won't You Be My Neighbor plays in the background as Donna Miller walks around the Neighborhood of Make-Believe. Meow Meow Meow Meow Beautiful plays while Henrietta Pussycat walks the platform at the factory.

X the Owl's poem which he reads at the factory's opening ceremony:

Today's a day for the Rockit
Corney's factory has made out its docket
For a nice quiet chair
With leg room to spare
You can lock it, or rock it, or hawk it, or knock it
But you can't take it out for a walk in your pocket
