THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers | ||
Misterogers (CBC, 10/16/1963)Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation Mister Rogers shows how the Neighborhood Trolley can move on command and talks briefly with viewers about trusting people at their word. In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Donna Miller sings Looking For a Friend as she approaches the Eiffel Tower with a covered cake pan. Showing the cake to Grandpere and indicating that it is for King Friday XIII, Grandpere reminds Ms. Miller of the new customs guidelines implemented at the castle. On her way to the clock, Ms. Miller continues singing Looking For a Friend. Daniel happily accepts an offer from Ms. Miller to sing a song for him and she sings Once Upon Each Lovely Day. Daniel also reminds Ms. Miller of the customs rules at the castle and suggests that they were put in place after King Friday became angry when everyone brought the wrong items to his Thanksgiving dinner. To thank her for her song, Daniel gives Ms. Miller a tiger lily before she departs. At the castle, Ms. Miller’s cake is inspected by Edgar Cooke so he can check for any “enemy messages.” Passing through customs, she meets with King Friday who is hesitant to accept the cake. Ms. Miller says that he will have to trust her and sings Take My Word. King Friday regrets his “need” to be so careful and shares that no one has visited the castle since his new rules were established. He agrees to talk about this further in the castle’s T Room with Ms. Miller. Back at the house, Mister Rogers invites viewers to visit again tomorrow. Notes
