Daniel Tiger is wearing his pajamas as he prepares to go to a nighttime storytime at the library. Before leaving, Daniel and his family enjoy the colorful sunset.

Under the beauty of the night sky, the Tiger family decides to walk to the libary. On the way, Daniel hears a frog and uses his flashlight to find it. Mom Tiger encourages him to use his flashlight to discover other things that are "special at night" like a nightingale and crickets.

Walking by the bakery, the Tigers find Baker Aker using the night hours to prepare dough for tomorrow's fresh bread. Moving on, Daniel stares in wonder at the starry sky as his Dad encourages him to discover pictures in the stars. Daniel make-believes that he is able to play with the stars in the sky before he sees a real shooting star.

Arriving at the library, Daniel finds his friends and their families already there. Everyone is welcomed to the special night at the libary by X the Owl and Music Man Stan. After a song, the children play a game around their sleeping bags. After the game, the friends find their sleeping bags and listen to a story about Trolley read by X the Owl.

After the story, Trolley arrives to give Daniel and his friends a special nighttime ride around the neighborhood before taking each of them home.
