Misterogers (CBC, 10/17/1963)
Network: Canadian Broadcasting Corporation
Air Date: October 17, 1963
Mister Rogers blows soap bubbles and plays the piano before sending the bubble solution on to the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Donna Miller sings What Would You Like To Do Today outside the castle. Finding the bubble solution about the Neighborhood Trolley, Ms. Miller blows bubbles of her own. Corney shares that everyone in Make-Believe has agreed to send something across the Trolley tracks to the castle so King Friday knows they are still thinking of him despite his new customs regulations. These messages will be sent using balloons which Ms. Miller gathers from around the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
With the help of Corney and X the Owl, the greetings are sent to King Friday who is startled at the sight of the approaching balloons. Edgar Cooke is ordered to shoot down the "enemy paratroopers" with the royal cannon. Before he can do so, Ms. Miller is able to show King Friday that these are messages of good will from his neighbors. She sings Love is People before King Friday declares the "war" is over and there will be peace in the Neighborhood of Make-Believe.
Notes
The idea of floating messages of good will to the castle during a time of misconceived conflict is very similar to the storyline used during the first week of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood which first aired later in the 1960s.
