Altoona Curve

The Altoona Curve is a Double A minor league baseball team affiliated with the Pittsburgh Pirates. On July 5, 2015, the team hosted "A Night in the Neighborhood" -- a promotional game-night event honoring Fred Rogers through recognition of his original Neighborhood as well as Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood. Daniel Tiger himself was on hand as the Curve wore special jerseys designed to replicate Mister Rogers' familiar cardigan sweaters.

Also in attendance at the event sponsored by WPSU was Mrs. Joanne Rogers who threw the honorary first pitch prior to the game.

In addition to the game-worn jerseys being auctioned in support of WPSU's community engagment efforts, a sweater drive was held to benefit the American Rescue Workers. Furthermore, two hundred children in attendance were treated to a free book provided by WPSU and one lucky winner was awarded a prize pack of Daniel Tiger merchandise.

In June of 2016, the Altoona Curve ran another promotion providing the first 1000 fans (ages ten and under) with a Daniel Tiger Plays Ball figure.

Notes

Card PNU-13 from the 2016 Topps Pro Debut set features a celebration of the Mister Rogers uniforms.

Similar jerseys were worn by the South Bend Cubs in 2019.
