By the way, the Fred Rogers Center catalog has some schedule info going all the way back to the start of the series.  Unfortunately, I can't access it.  Some of it is available online, but is password protected.  I guess I'm not worthy of being given a password.

WHAT!!!!!! That is really unfair!!!!!!!!

Some of it is only available on site.  Maybe if anyone here (maybe Tim?) does have a password, maybe they can check some of it out.

Or what about Betty? Or maybe I'll e-mail Hedda about it Monday.

I've been away from here for a week or so but found this tiday and find it interesting and insightful. A few things that I find interesting is the black and whites still airing after the debut of 1001 as I was under the impression they never aired after that although while 1-65 and 66-130 may or my not be sseperate seasons perhaps having two sets of 65 episodes like other season may have been a factor. Also, if the 4 weeks last aired in 1978 as he believes, why would they have decided not to air them by 1979, what would have changed, I know we've discussed possible reasons but wonder why they'd be an issue then. Also, on a youtube clip in another thread I with coloboration from an old microfilm tv listing found 1311-1315 airing February 14-18, 1983 which as mentioned wouldn't make sense to interupt the story arc for Games debut although perhaps they aired an afternoon airing a few weeks behind. Also, I find it intersting they'd only air the first half of 1969 in late 1983 and not the second half. Also, similar to airing the wedding week before Carrie Dell's adoption week it made sense to air Grandparents before Fathers and Music as in Grandparents Fred says he isn't a grandfather yet and in Fathers and Music his grandson appears. Also, Celebratins worked well out so that his birthday celebration episode aired on his 70th birthday in 1998.

Now to go on with the schedule:
Part 7: 8/14/95 - 8/29/97 (last of the post-75s before weeks were skipped):
8/14 - 8/18/95: 1461 - 1465 (Starting School) (interesting that the first post-75 aired immediately after pre-79s last aired)
8/21 - 8/25/95: 1606 - 1610 (Josephine the Short-Neck Giraffe
8/28 - 9/1/95: 1686 - 1690 (Everybody's Special)
9/4 - 9/8/95: 1651 - 1655 (Learning)
9/11 - 9/15/95: 1481 - 1485 (Competition)
9/18 - 9/22/95: 1486 - 1490 (Play)
9/25 - 9/29/95: 1491 - 1495 (Discipline)
10/2 - 10/6/95: 1471 - 1475 (Windstorm in Bubbleland) (Friday before a holiday! Also Friday after Yom Kippur, but the Friday before a holiday is more likely since it is a past followed tradition and it makes more sense)
10/9 - 10/13/95: 1491 - 1495 (Pets)
10/16 - 10/20/95: 1691 - 1695 (Mad Feelings) (first and only debut, pre-79 or post-75, in October, because this week (week of third Monday in October) because it was some kind of day or week related to madness
10/23 - 10/27/95: 1466 - 1470 (Superheroes)
10/30 - 11/3/95: 1506 - 1510 (Friends)
11/6 - 11/10/95: 1501 - 1505 (Creativity) (so these last two weeks were switched again this year, even though, unlike the past 2 years, the opera would still air in November. Maybe for whatever reason, they wanted the November tradition to never air November 3 or before, and that decision was made after 1990 when 1505 aired Nov. 2.
11/13 - 11/17/95: 1476 - 1480 (Divorce)
11/20 - 11/24/95: 1536 - 1540 (Food)
Now for the first time ever, for some mysterious reason, the post-75 run wasn't all in order, starting with the earliest and going to the latest, and it never was that way again.
11/27 - 12/1/95: 1621 - 1625 (Fathers & Music)
12/4 - 12/8/95: 1626 - 1630 (Mouths & Feelings)
12/11 - 12/15/95: 1631 - 1635 (Growing)
12/18 - 12/22/95: 1636 - 1640 (Dress-Up)
12/25 - 12/29/95: 1641 - 1645 (Art) (So the music and the arts tradition on the week containing Christmas continued, but even though it was a different week, it was still in its proper position. And also, with no opera this week or the previous week, this was the first time since 1983 there was no Christmas/New Year's opera, although maybe it wasn't completely broken since 1640 is a play)
1/1 - 1/5/96: 1611 - 1615 (When Parents Go to Work) (So since When Parents Go to Work is, like Daycare & Night Care, a week that has to do with daycare, that's when the New Year's daycare week changed)
1/8 - 1/12/96: 1646 - 1650 (Imaginary Friends)
1/15 - 1/19/96: 1656 - 1660 (Up & Down) (so since Learning didn't have a second airing in its proper position, that proves that in the previous two years it was to phase out the pre-79s)
1/22 - 1/26/96: 1666 - 1670 (Then & Now)
1/29 - 2/2/96: 1671 - 1675 (Things to Wear)
2/5 - 2/9/96: 1676 - 1680 (Going Away & Coming Back)
2/12 - 2/16/96: 1661 - 1665 (Love)
2/19 - 2/23/96 : 1696 - 1700 (Transformations)
2/26 - 3/1/96: 1681 - 1695 (Fast & Slow)
3/4 - 3/8/96: 1686 - 1690 (Everybody's Special)
3/11 - 3/11/96: 1691 - 1695 (Mad Feelings) (that broke the Labor Day rule probably since they really didn't want pre-79s to air anymore)
3/18 - 3/22/96: 1596 - 1600 (Secrets)
Then the post-75 run picked up right where it left off on November 3
3/25 - 3/29/96: 1511 - 1515 (Games)
4/1 - 4/5/96: 1521 - 1525 (Conflict) (that's the one post-75 that had a last airing long before weekday episodes were ending, since that week was banned because with a lot of then-recent disasters that killed people (such as the Oklahoma City bombing, Waco, and the war in Iraq), they realized a week on war could scare kids, which I think is crazy and in fact more of a reason to air it.
4/8 - 4/12/96: 1526 - 1530 (Work)
4/15 - 4/19/96: 1616 - 1620 (The Environment)
4/22 - 4/26/96: 1531 - 1535 (Grandparents)
4/29 - 5/3/96: 1541 - 1545 (No & Yes)
5/6 - 5/10/96: 1546 - 1550 (Music)
5/13 - 5/17/96: 1551 - 1555 (Families)
5/20 - 5/24/96: 1556 - 1560 (Making & Creating)
5/27 - 5/31/96: 1561 - 1565 (Celebrations)
6/3 - 6/7/96: 1566 - 1570 (Playthings)
6/10 - 6/14/96: 1571 - 1575 (Dance)
6/17 - 6/21/96: 1576 - 1580 (Making Mistakes)
6/24 - 6/28/96: 1581 - 1585 (Alike & Different)
7/1 - 7/5/96: 1586 - 1590 (Nighttime) (Russian visit on a holiday, which though is in its proper position, could be appropriate! And it does prove my theory of Holy Week being the reason why it was moved in 1993)
7/8 - 7/12/96: 1591 - 1595 (Kindness & Unkindness)
7/15 - 7/19/96: 1601 - 1605 (Fun & Games)

7/22 - 7/26: 1701 - 1705 (Helping)
7/29 - 8/2/96: 1686 - 1690 (Everybody's Special) (the reason for this is on Hedda's schedules, the debut was scheduled for 7/29 - 8/2, and Transformations the week before, though I remember watching these two weeks in this order very well. I wonder why the debut was pushed up one week, and though a week had to have broken the Labor Day rule, why not  Transformations as originally scheduled, since Everybody's Special had aired later than Transformations, even by only two weeks, and it had aired twice already while Transformations had only aired once. Also, notice Helping is the one debut, pre-79 or post-75, that isn't bold!

8/5 - 8/9/96: 1606 - 1610 (Josephine the Short-Neck Giraffe)
8/12 - 8/16/96: 1516 - 1520 (Daycare & Night Care) (and instead of being the New Year's daycare week, it became one of the back to school weeks, which I think makes much more sense)
8/19 - 8/23/96: 1461 - 1465 (Starting School)
8/26 - 8/30/96: 1706 - 1710 (Brave & Strong)
This ends the period of episodes posted on the website, so from here on, no matter how much work you do to look at those schedules, this is the only place to see schedule info.
9/2 - 9/6/96: 1651 - 1655 (Learning)
9/9 - 9/13/96: 1556 - 1560 (Making & Creating)
9/16 - 9/20/96: 1561 - 1565 (Friday before Yom Kippur, but I don't think that had anything to do with it, especially since it was in its proper position)
9/23 - 9/27/96: 1566 - 1570 (Playthings)
9/30 - 10/4/96: 1571 - 1575 (Dance)
10/7 - 10/11/96: 1576 - 1580 (Making Mistakes) (John Costa died the day 1580 aired)
10/14 - 10/18/96: 1581 - 1585 (Alike & Different)
10/21 - 10/25/96: 1586 - 1590 (Nighttime)
10/28 - 11/1/96: 1466 - 1470 (Superheroes)
11/4 - 11/8/96: 1591 - 1595 (Kindness & Unkindness)
11/11 - 11/15/96: 1596 - 1600 (Secrets) (So for the first and only time since 1990, it aired in its proper position and not at its annual occasion time, and the reason why is a mystery)
11/18 - 11/22/96: 1691 - 1695 (Mad Feelings) (why this week is a mystery. And this means that Divorce would only air before Thanksgiving if early weeks were airing then)
11/25 - 11/29/96: 1536 - 1540 (Food)
12/2 - 12/6/96: 1621 - 1625 (Fathers & Music) (why Fun & Games was moved is a mystery. But it did make Fathers & Music air the week after Thanksgiving, just like the previous year)
12/9 - 12/13/96: 1631 - 1635 (Growing) (why Mouths & Feelings was moved is a mystery. But it does make, from here, except for debuts, the schedule identical to the previous year)
12/16 - 12/20/96: 1636 - 1640 (Dress-Up) (again, one could say Christmas/New Year's entertainment tradition still followed with the play in 1640)
12/23 - 12/27/96: 1641 - 1645 (Art) (music/art on week containing Christmas Day followed again but in its proper position)
12/30/96 - 1/3/97: 1611 - 1615 (When Parents Go to Work)
1/6 - 1/10/97: 1646 - 1650 (Imaginary Friends)
1/13 - 1/17/97: 1656 - 1660 (Up & Down)
1/20 - 1/24/97: 1666 - 1670 (Then & Now)
1/27 - 1/31/97: 1671 - 1675 (Things to Wear)
2/3 - 2/7/97: 1676 - 1680 (Going Away & Coming Back)
2/10 - 2/14/97: 1661 - 1665 (Love)
2/17 - 2/17/97: 1711 - 1715 (Sharing)
2/24 - 2/28/97: 1681 - 1685 (Fast & Slow)
3/3 - 3/7/97: 1686 - 1690 (Everybody's Special)
3/10 - 3/14/97: 1696 - 1700 (Transformations)
3/17 - 3/21/97: 1701 - 1705 (Helping)
3/24 - 3/28/97: 1706 - 1710 (Brave & Strong)
3/31 - 4/4/97: 1626 - 1630 (Mouths & Feelings)
4/7 - 4/11/97: 1601 - 1605 (Fun & Games) (So therefore, these past two weeks were when the weeks moved to allow both the week after Thanksgiving to be the same as the previous year, and subsequent weeks 52 weeks apart)
4/14 - 4/18/97: 1616 - 1620 (The Environment)
4/21 - 4/25/97: 1471 - 1475 (Windstorm in Bubbleland) (so this is when it went back to the beginning after going to the end, and the opera would air during Passover)
4/28 - 5/2/97: 1476 - 1480 (Divorce)
5/5 - 5/9/97: 1481 - 1485 (Competition)
5/12 - 5/16/97: 1491 - 1495 (Discipline) (with the thought that there was going to be more than 52 weeks of non-Conflict post-75s, Play was going to be skipped in this post-75 run, except for Starting School in 1989, the first such week (and I'll explain why it wasn't when we get to when it aired), and there they were going to start skipping weeks in a Labor Day - Labor Day post-75 run, and then air them again the following such post-75 run but not before certain other weeks aired. (for instance, Games was skipped in the 1997 - 98 one but not Friends (it never was), but Games didn't air until the next one, at some point after Labor Day. I'll explain exactly when when we get to those airings)
5/19 - 5/23/97: 1496 - 1500 (Pets)
5/26 - 5/30/97: 1501 - 1505 (Creativity)
6/2 - 6/6/97: 1506 - 1510 (Friends)
6/9 - 6/13/97: 1511 - 1515 (Games)
6/16 - 6/20/97: 1526 - 1530 (Work)
6/23 - 6/27/97: 1531 - 1535 (Grandparents)
6/30 - 7/4/97: 1541 - 1545 (No & Yes)
7/7 - 7/11/97: 1546 - 1550 (Music)
7/14 - 7/18/97: 1551 - 1555
7/21 - 7/25/97: 1711 - 1715 (Sharing)

7/28 - 8/1/97: 1486 - 1490 (Play) (So this is when it ended up airing, according only to my memory, instead of a debut, as was on Hedda's schedules, and a debut aired that same week for the next 2 years afterwards, and the reason why the debut was canceled was probably because of Costa's death and the time they spent mourning and replacing him. Though the other mystery is, with there being exactly 52 weeks of post-75s other than Conflict by Labor Day, why Sharing had to break the Labor Day rule (at least as originally scheduled) rather than originally schedule Play for that week instead followed by the originally scheduled debut)
8/4 - 8/8/97: 1606 - 1610 (Josephine the Short-Neck Giraffe)
8/11 - 8/15/97: 1516 - 1520 (Daycare & Night Care)
8/18 - 8/22/97: 1461 - 1465 (Starting School)
8/25 - 8/29/97: 1716 - 1720 (Be Yourself: That's the Best) (the reason why 1716 - 1720 is underlined is because with the episodes with those numbers scheduled to debut 7/28 - 8/1, this was originally scheduled to be 1721 - 1725.

Part 8: 9/1/97 - 8/31/01 (the post-75 runs with skipped weeks while there were still new episodes)

9/1 - 9/5/97: 1651 - 1655 (Learning)
Then this post-75 run, at least up until what's chronologically the end, is almost identical to the year before.
9/8 - 9/12/97: 1556 - 1560 (Making & Creating)
9/15 - 9/19/97: 1561 - 1565 (Celebrations)
9/22 - 9/26/97: 1566 - 1570 (Playthings)
9/29 - 10/3/97: 1571 - 1575 (Dance)
10/6 - 10/10/97: 1576 - 1580 (Making Mistakes)
10/13 - 10/17/97: 1581 - 1585 (Alike & Different)
10/20 - 10/24/97: 1691 - 1695 (Mad Feelings) (So starting then, it became an annual occasion week for that mad week)
10/27 - 10/31/97: 1466 - 1470 (Superheroes)
11/3 - 11/7/97: 1586 - 1590 (Nighttime)
11/10 - 11/14/97: 1591 - 1595 (Kindness & Unkindness)
11/17 - 11/21/97: 1701 - 1705 (Helping) (Since Helping aired in its proper position at Secrets's annual occasion time the year before, it was then switched with Secrets probably both so it could air it its annual occasion time and the whole schedule could be almost identical to the year before)
11/24 - 11/28/97: 1536 - 1540 (Food)
12/1 - 12/5/97: 1621 - 1625 (Fathers & Music) (Fun & Games was probably moved to keep the schedule identical to the year before)
12/8 - 12/12/97: 1631 - 1635 (Growing) (Mouths & Feelings was probably moved to keep the schedule identical to the year before)
12/15 - 12/19/97: 1636 - 1640 (Dress-Up) (again with the play in 1640 keeping up the Christmas/New Year's entertainment tradition)
12/22 - 12/26/97: 1641 - 1645 (Art) (again the music/arts on the week containing Christmas Day tradition but in its proper position)
12/29/97 - 1/2/98: 1611 - 1615 (When Parents Go to Work)
1/5 - 1/9/98: 1646 - 1650 (Imaginary Friends)
1/12 - 1/16/98: 1656 - 1660 (Up & Down)
1/19 - 1/23/98: 1666 - 1670 (Then & Now)
1/26 - 1/30/98: 1671 - 1675 (Things to Wear)
2/2 - 2/6/98: 1676 - 1680 (Going Away & Coming Back)
2/9 - 2/13/98: 1661 - 1665 (Love)
2/16 - 2/20/98: 1721 - 1725 (Giving & Receiving)
2/23 - 2/27/98: 1681 - 1685 (Fast & Slow)
3/2 - 3/6/98: 1686 - 1690 (Everybody's Special)
3/9 - 3/13/98: 1696 - 1700 (Transformations)
3/16 - 3/20/98: 1596 - 1600 (Secrets)
3/23 - 3/27/98: 1706 - 1710 (Brave & Strong)
3/30 - 4/3/98: 1711 - 1715 (Sharing)
4/6 - 4/10/98: 1716 - 1720 (Be Yourself: That's the Best)
4/13 - 4/17/98: 1616 - 1620 (The Environment)
And after this, the identical post-75 run to the previous year continued, except for two non-annual occasion weeks later, and then made up for with two skipped weeks
4/20 - 4/24/98: 1626 - 1630 (Mouths & Feelings)
4/27 - 5/1/98: 1601 - 1605 (Fun & Games)
5/4 - 5/8/98: 1471 - 1475 (Windstorm in Bubbleland) (Friday before Mother's Day!)
5/11 - 5/15/98: 1476 - 1480 (Divorce)
5/18 - 5/22/98: 1481 - 1485 (Competition)
5/25 - 5/29/98: 1491 - 1495 (Discipline) (so Play was skipped, keeping the two non-annual occasion weeks later schedule)
6/1 - 6/5/98: 1496 - 1500 (Pets)
6/8 - 6/12/98: 1501 - 1505 (Creativity)
6/15 - 6/19/98: 1506 - 1510 (Friends)
6/22 - 6/26/96: 1526 - 1530 (Work) (so Games was skipped)
6/29 - 7/3/98: 1541 - 1545 (No & Yes)
7/6 - 7/10/98: 1531 - 1535 (Grandparents) (why these last two weeks were switched is a mystery, especially since it would mean the opera the Friday before a holiday, and a day off from work! Maybe they felt the wedding was bigger than the opera, and the wedding aired on that same holiday, this time on the actual holiday, one year before)
7/13 - 7/17/98: 1546 - 1550 (Music)
7/20 - 7/24/98: 1551 - 1555 (Families)
7/27 - 7/31/98: 1726 - 1730 (You & I Together)
8/3 - 8/7/98: 1606 - 1610 (Josephine the Short-Neck Giraffe)
8/10 - 8/14/98: 1516 - 1520 (Daycare & Night Care)
8/17 - 8/21/98: 1461 - 1465 (Starting School)
8/24 - 8/28/98: 1731 - 1735 (Little & Big)
8/31 - 9/4/98: 1651 - 1655 (Learning) (So just like in 1992, these last two in this order meant that with the late Labor Day, they did the usual Labor Day related traditions one week early. And the post-75 run, though doing just what it did the past two years, started at a different midpoint
9/7 - 9/11/98: 1601 - 1605 (Fun & Games)
9/14 - 9/18/98: 1621 - 1625 (Fathers & Music)
9/21 - 9/25/98: 1626 - 1630 (Mouths & Feelings)
9/28 - 10/2/98: 1631 - 1635 (Growing)
10/5 - 10/9/98: 1636 - 1640 (Dress-Up)
10/12 - 10/16/98: 1641 - 1645 (Art)
10/19 - 10/23/98: 1691 - 1695 (Mouths & Feelings)
10/26 - 10/30/98: 1466 - 1470 (Superheroes)
11/2 - 11/6/98: 1646 - 1650 (Imaginary Friends) (1646 aired the day Bob Trow died)
11/9 - 11/13/98: 1656 - 1660 (Up & Down)
11/16 - 11/20/98: 1526 - 1530 (Work) (why this week is a mystery. Though adding to the mystery is that starting at this point and for two more years, it was moved to the week before or after a holiday annual occasion week)
11/23 - 11/27/98: 1536 - 1540 (Food)
11/30 - 12/4/98: 1666 - 1670 (Then & Now)
12/7 - 12/11/98: 1671 - 1675 (Things to Wear)
12/14 - 12/18/98: 1676 - 1680 (Going Away & Coming Back)
12/21 - 12/25/98: 1721 - 1725 (Giving & Receiving) (So at this point, it became an annual occasion week for Christmas. And that's the first time since 1990 that the arts/music week didn't air the week containing Christmas Day or the first weekday after wasn't followed)
12/28/98 - 1/1/99: 1681 - 1685 (Fast & Slow) (So for the first time since 1983, no opera or entertainment episode aired at Christmas/New Year's.
1/4 - 1/8/99: 1611 - 1615 (When Parents Go to Work)
1/11 - 1/15/99: 1686 - 1690 (Everybody's Special)
1/18 - 1/22: 1696 - 1700 (Transformations) (the reason why some of 1696 and its air date are in green are because a lot of 1696 was edited (and reshot years several years after its debut!) because it had a laser pointer, which wasn't allowed because they later realized that it would be scary to children).
1/25 - 1/29/99: 1701 - 1705 (Helping)
2/1 - 2/5/99: 1706 - 1710 (Brave & Strong)
2/8 - 2/12/99: 1661 - 1665 (Love)
2/15 - 2/19/99: 1736 - 1740 (Noisy & Quiet)
2/22 - 2/26/99: 1711 - 1715 (Sharing)
3/1 - 3/5/99: 1716 - 1720 (Be Yourself: That's the Best)
3/8 - 3/12/99: 1726 - 1730 (You & I Together)
3/15 - 3/19/99: 1596 - 1600 (Secrets)
3/22 - 3/26/99: 1731 - 1735 (Little & Big)
3/29 - 4/2/99: 1501 - 1505 (Creativity) (for some mysterious reason, episodes from before Creativity did air at the end of the post-75 run rather than at this point, with a mini-version of 1995 - 96. Though this does mean an opera on Good Friday! But it would still mean that if it weren't for that mini-version of 1995 - 96.)
4/5 - 4/9/99: 1506 - 1510 (Friends)
4/12 - 4/16/99: 1511 - 1515 (Games) (the first time a post-75 other than Starting School aired after being skipped)
4/19 - 4/23/99: 1616 - 1620 (The Environment)
4/26 - 4/30/99: 1531 - 1535 (Grandparents)
5/3 - 5/7/99: 1541 - 1545 (No & Yes)
5/10 - 5/14/99: 1546 - 1550 (Music)
5/17 - 5/21/99: 1551 - 1555 (Families)
5/24 - 5/28/99: 1561 - 1565 (Celebrations) (so obviously, Making & Creating was skipped. Though it does mean the opera the Friday before a holiday! And that could easily be why!)
5/31 - 6/4/99: 1571 - 1575 (Dance) (so obviously, Playthings was skipped)
6/7 - 6/11/99: 1576 - 1580 (Making Mistakes)
6/14 - 6/18/99: 1581 - 1585 (Alike & Different)
6/21 - 6/25/99: 1586 - 1590 (Nighttime)
6/28 - 7/2/99: 1591 - 1595 (Kindness & Unkindness)
So this being just before the post-75 run started, the early episodes started
7/5 - 7/9/99: 1471 - 1475 (Windstorm in Bubbleland) (ironically, especially with the parts of the post-75 run shifting, one week later than the Friday before a holiday!)
7/12 - 7/16/99: 1476 - 1480 (Divorce)
7/19 - 7/23/99: 1496 - 1500 (Pets) (so obviously, Competition, Play (for the second year in a row!), and Discipline were skipped
7/26 - 7/30/99: 1741 - 1745 (Go Stop Go)
8/2 - 8/6/99: 1606 - 1610 (Josephine)
8/9 - 8/13/99: 1516 - 1520 (Daycare & Night Care)
8/16 - 8/20/99: 1461 - 1465 (Starting School)
8/23 - 8/27/99: 1746 - 1750 (When Things Get Broken) (so unlike 1993, with Labor Day on the same day, they again made the Labor Day related traditions one week earlier)
8/30 - 9/3/99: 1651 - 1655 (Learning)
Then the post-75 run started with a different midpoint than the year before, but not far from it.
9/6 - 9/10/99: 1631 - 1635 (Growing)
9/13 - 9/17/99: 1636 - 1640 (Dress-Up)
9/20 - 9/24/99: 1641 - 1645 (Art)
9/27 - 10/1/99: 1646 - 1650 (Imaginary Friends)
10/4 - 10/8/99: 1656 - 1660 (Up & Down)
10/11 - 10/15/99: 1666 - 1670 (Then & Now)
10/18 - 10/22/99: 1691 - 1695 (Mad Feelings)
10/25 - 10/29/99: 1466 - 1470 (Superheroes)
11/1 - 11/5/99: 1671 - 1675 (Things to Wear)
11/8 - 11/12/99: 1676 - 1680 (Going Away & Coming Back)
11/15 - 11/19/99: 1476 - 1480 (Divorce) (So therefore, they brought it back as a November annual occasion week, always for the week before Thanksgiving, and stopped caring about whether that era of episodes was airing)
11/22 - 11/26/99: 1536 - 1540 (Food)
11/29 - 12/3/99: 1681 - 1685 (Fast & Slow)
12/6 - 12/10/99: 1686 - 1690 (Everybody's Special)
12/13 - 12/17/99: 1526 - 1530 (Work) (therefore, again the after a holiday annual occasion week)
12/20 - 12/24/99: 1721 - 1725 (Giving & Receiving)
12/27 - 12/31/99: 1701 - 1705 (Helping) (Transformations was obviously skipped, most likely because it took time to reshoot 1696, or they didn't know what to do after the laser pointer issue came up, and probably thought it had to be banned, and then it was reshot later)
1/3 - 1/7/00: 1611 - 1615 (When Parents Go to Work)
1/10 - 1/14/00: 1706 - 1710 (Brave & Strong)
1/17 - 1/21/00: 1711 - 1715 (Sharing)
1/24 - 1/28/00: 1716 - 1720 (Be Yourself: That's the Best)
1/31 - 2/4/00: 1726 - 1730 (You & I Together)
2/7 - 2/11/00: 1731 - 1735 (Little & Big)
2/14 - 2/18/00: 1661 - 1665 (Love)
2/21 - 2/25/00: 1751 - 1755 (Curiosity)
2/28 - 3/3/00: 1736 - 1740 (Noisy & Quiet)
3/6 - 3/10/00: 1741 - 1745 (Go Stop Go)
3/13 - 3/17/00: 1746 - 1750 (When Things Get Broken) (Obviously, Secrets was skipped, and it turns out after this it was always skipped in even years, and never in an odd year)
At this point, like 1999, going back to a few episodes from an era, but in this case from just before the start of the post-75 run before going back to the beginning
3/20 - 3/24/00: 1601 - 1605 (Fun & Games)
3/27 - 3/31/00: 1621 - 1625 (Fathers & Music)
4/3 - 4/7/00: 1626 - 1630 (Mouths & Feelings)
4/10 - 4/14/00: 1591 - 1595 (Kindness & Unkindness) (moved for some mysterious reason, although ending the few episodes from the era post-75 run before the annual occasion week makes sense, since the going back to the beginning post-75 run would be interrupted after only one week. Though interestingly enough, if Kindness & Unkindness was instead moved to the end of that part of the post-75 run Secrets could have started this era one, and it could  still be considered its annual occasion time, since it would still have aired the week containing Fred's birthday, and, which would only have been broken in 1995, like Love with Valentine's Day, always aired the week containing or before Fred's birthday)
4/17 - 4/21/00: 1616 - 1620 (The Environment)
4/24 - 4/28/00: 1481 - 1485 (Competition) (So though they go back to the beginning, Bubbleland is skipped, which is ironic since it would air Easter Friday.
5/1 - 5/5/95 1486 - 1490 (Play) (first time a week aired after being skipped two years in a row!!!!! And one of only four such weeks. And because of the canceled debut the week of 7/28 - 8/1/97, it's the first time it's airing as originally scheduled (and therefore on the schedule) since 9/18 - 9/22/95!!!!!!!!
5/8 - 5/12/00: 1491 - 1495 (Discipline)
5/15 - 5/19/00: 1506 - 1510 (Friends) (Pets was moved for a mysterious reason, and Creativity was skipped again, so that was the second week to be skipped two years in a row
5/22 - 5/26/00: 1531 - 1535 (Grandparents) (so Games was skipped for the second time, and this means the opera the Friday before a holiday!)
5/29 - 6/2/00: 1546 - 1550 (Music) (so No & Yes was skipped)
6/5 - 6/9/00: 1551 - 1555 (Families) (that proves that No & Yes had to have been skipped because of course Carrie Dell couldn't be adopted before her parents are married)
6/12 - 6/16/00: 1556 - 1560 (Making & Creating)
6/19 - 6/23/00: 1561 - 1565 (Celebrations)
6/26 - 6/30/00: 1566 - 1570 (Playthings)
7/3 - 7/7/00: 1571 - 1575 (Dance)
7/10 - 7/14/00: 1576 - 1580 (Making Mistakes)
7/17 - 7/21/00: 1581 - 1585 (Alike & Different)
7/24 - 7/28/00: 1586 - 1590 (Nighttime)
7/31 - 8/4/00: 1496 - 1500 (Pets) (so this is when it was moved to, though why this week was a mystery)
8/7 - 8/11/00: 1516 - 1520 (Daycare & Night Care)
8/14 - 8/18/00: 1461 - 1465 (Starting School)
8/21 - 8/25/00: 1606 - 1610 (Josephine the Short-Neck Giraffe) (So therefore, for the first time since DC&NC became a school week, these last three weeks aired in a different order than the past 3 years. And the reason why is mysterious, since they aired in this order in 2002 but not in 1996, which had the same calendars)
8/28 - 9/1/00: 1756 - 1760 (Ready to Read?)
9/4 - 9/8/00: 1651 - 1655 (Learning)
9/11 - 9/15/00: 1751 - 1755 (Curiosity) (So this became one of the school weeks, for very mysterious reasons, since I don't see at all why this has to do with school, and unlike Josephine, there's no school in it.)
Anyway, from here the post-75 run begins at the same midpoint as the year before, and with a lot of the schedule identical, or airing one week later
9/18 - 9/22/00: 1631 - 1635 (Growing)
9/25 - 9/29/00: 1646 - 1650 (Imaginary Friends) (Dress-Up was skipped and Art moved, probably to keep it like the year before, though I'll explain further when I get to the week it was moved to)
10/2 - 10/6/00: 1656 - 1660 (Up & Down)
10/9 - 10/13/00: 1666 - 1670 (Then & Now)
10/16 - 10/20/00: 1691 - 1695 (Mad Feelings)
10/23 - 10/27/00: 1466 - 1470 (Superheroes)
10/30 - 11/3/00: 1676 - 1680 (Going Away & Coming Back)
11/6 - 11/10/00: 1471 - 1475 (Windstorm in Bubbleland) (the November opera tradition resumed)
11/13 - 11/17/00: 1476 - 1480 (Divorce) (though this and the previous week are back to back, that could have been by complete accident, since one was about the November opera and this was at its annual occasion time)
11/20 - 11/24/00: 1536 - 1540 (Food)
11/27 - 12/1/00: 1526 - 1530 (Work) (one again, airing before or after a holiday annual occasion week)
12/4 - 12/8/00: 1681 - 1685 (Fast & Slow)
12/11 - 12/15/00: 1696 - 1700 (Transformations) (So this is when 1696 was reshot without the laser pointer. Also, this means Everybody's Special was skipped)
12/18 - 12/22/00: 1721 - 1725 (Giving & Receiving)
12/25 - 12/29/00: 1641 - 1645 (Art) (So therefore, the music/the arts tradition of airing an episode on Christmas Day resumed, and for the first time not in its proper position)
1/1 - 1/5/01: 1611 - 1615 (When Parents Go to Work)
1/8 - 1/12/01: 1701 - 1705 (Helping)
1/15 - 1/9/01: 1706 - 1710 (Brave & Strong)
1/22 - 1/26/01: 1711 - 1715 (Sharing)
1/29 - 2/2/01: 1716 - 1720 (Be Yourself: That's the Best)
2/5 - 2/9/01: 1726 - 1730 (You & I Together)
2/12 - 2/16/01: 1661 - 1665 (Love)
2/19 - 2/23/01: 1576 - 1580 (Making Mistakes) (so therefore, for the first time since 1993, no President's Week debut, probably because the show was no longer making new episodes. But why Making Mistakes and not the proper position week is a mystery, especially since all weeks would be exactly one year before the previous year)
2/26 - 3/2/01: 1731 - 1735 (Little & Big) (so for the first time since 1990, no February debut, obviously for the same reason described in the previous week)
3/5 - 3/9/01: 1736 - 1740 (Noisy & Quiet)
3/12 - 3/16/01: 1741 - 1745 (Go Stop Go)
3/19 - 3/23/01: 1596 - 1600 (Secrets)
3/26 - 3/30/01: 1601 - 1605 (Fun & Games) (So When Things Get Broken and Ready to Read were moved, and small back to the beginning of the era of just before the start of the post-75 run episodes begin. They were probably moved to allow the episodes of no more than one week later than the previous year)
4/2 - 4/6/01: 1621 - 1625 (Fathers & Music)
4/9 - 4/13/01: 1626 -1630 (Mouths & Feelings)
4/16 - 4/20/01: 1616 - 1620 (The Environment)
Then the going back to the beginning starts, and Kindness & Unkindness is skipped, probably to keep the beginning episodes one year apart, or ending with only one week from an era after an annual occasion week, which they realized didn't work after March 1999
4/23 - 4/27/00: 1481 - 1485 (Competition)
4/30 - 5/4/01: 1486 - 1490 (Play)
5/7 - 5/11/01: 1496 - 1500 (Pets) (So Discipline was skipped, and therefore Pets aired in its proper position)
5/14 - 5/18/01: 1506 - 1510 (Friends) (So therefore, as I said, Creativity was skipped for two years in a row)
5/21 - 5/25/01: 1531 - 1535 (Grandparents)
5/28 - 6/1/01: 1511 - 1515 (Games) (so therefore these last two weeks were switched, probably so the opera could air the Friday before a holiday!)
6/4 - 6/8/01: 1541 - 1545 (No & Yes)
6/11 - 6/15/01: 1546 - 1550 (Music)
6/18 - 6/22/01: 1561 - 1565 (Celebrations)
6/25 - 6/29/01: 1551 - 1555 (Families) (why these two were switched is a mystery, especially since with Celebrations in its proper position, it could be considered airing the Friday before a holiday, because that holiday is a Wednesday, so therefore there's no weekend attached to it, so the weekend before is one of the two weekends that could maybe be considered that holiday weekend, so therefore airing the Friday of the weekend before that holiday would be following the tradition if they weren't switched. Although airing Celebrations when it aired would mean the same as the previous year, and neither would air that same week if they weren't switched. And so therefore Making & Creating was obviously skipped)
7/2 - 7/6/01: 1571 - 1575 (Dance) (Playthings was moved for some mysterious reason, though Dance is airing the same as previous year)
7/9 - 7/13/01: 1756 - 1760 (Ready to Read?) (why this week is a mystery)
7/16 - 7/20/01: 1746 - 1750 (When Things Get Broken) (why this week is a mystery. And if anything they should have been switched since that could be considered an era of two episodes in order)
7/23 - 7/27/01: 1586 - 1590 (Nighttime) (so therefore Alike & Different is skipped, and the two weeks before could allow it to air the same week as the previous year)
7/30 - 8/3/01: 1566 - 1570 (Playthings) (so therefore this was the week it was moved to for mysterious reasons
8/6 - 8/10/01: 1516 - 1520 (Daycare & Night Care)
8/13 - 8/17/01: 1461 - 1465 (Starting School)
8/20 - 8/24/01: 1606 - 1610 (Josephine the Short-Neck Giraffe)
8/27 - 8/31/01: 1761 - 1765 (Celebrating the Arts) (series finale)

A few things that I find interesting is the black and whites still airing after the debut of 1001 as I was under the impression they never aired after that although while 1-65 and 66-130 may or my not be sseperate seasons perhaps having two sets of 65 episodes like other season may have been a factor.

Even though in this schedule the black and white episodes are airing after 1001, that's not confirmed.

Also, if the 4 weeks last aired in 1978 as he believes, why would they have decided not to air them by 1979, what would have changed, I know we've discussed possible reasons but wonder why they'd be an issue then.  Though a Celebrations episode did air on his 61st, and would have on his 59th if it weren't switched with Making & Creating. And ironically, of the two, the latter is the one of the two that was the birthday episode (of Kitty, Betty's character in the opera)

I don't know. Whenever they last aired, why they didn't before the other episodes from that era is a mystery.

It had to have been a PBS station that aired the afternoon airing a few weeks behind, because 1310/1311 isn't possible for a debut that could have been any other week.

Also, I find it intersting they'd only air the first half of 1969 in late 1983 and not the second half.

Yes though it makes sense since they were phasing out the 1969 season.

Also, similar to airing the wedding week before Carrie Dell's adoption week it made sense to air Grandparents before Fathers and Music as in Grandparents Fred says he isn't a grandfather yet and in Fathers and Music his grandson appears.

Though what is crazy is in April 1991, though Grandparents was before, they were only 2 weeks apart! And Grandparents was moved to a random week (yes, an opera Easter Friday and the Friday before Reardon's birthday, but that tradition wasn't followed every year and even if it was, it could have been done with another opera, as it has been at other times). So with kids easily remembering that after only two weeks, that made no sense. The closest those two weeks have aired with Fathers & Music airing before is in 2003, with Fathers & Music Jan. 20 - 24, and Grandparents, March 10 - 14, which would only be 7 weeks apart. That could be enough time for kids to forget Fred's grandson's appearance by the time they hear he's not a grandfather yet, however 7 weeks happens to also be the furthest apart No & Yes and Families have aired in 2004, with the former March 8 - 12 and the latter April 26 - 30.

Also, Celebratins worked well out so that his birthday celebration episode aired on his 70th birthday in 1998.

You mean Secrets, not Celebrations. And though it wasn't milestone, 64th in 1992 as well, as well as around that time for 63rd, 65th, 67th, 68th, 71st, 73rd, and what would be his 75th, 77th, and 79th if he had still been alive for those. And as for Celebrations, an episode did air on his 61st birthday, but not of either birthday episode that week (Henrietta and Kitty, Betty Aberlin's character the cat in the opera. And ironically, the latter would air on Fred's 59th birthday if Celebrations wasn't switched with Making & Creating, which made no sense that year).

7/1 - 7/5/96: 1586 - 1590 (Nighttime) (Russian visit on a holiday, which though is in its proper position, could be appropriate! And it does prove my theory of Holy Week being the reason why it was moved in 1993)

How does it prove it?

Quote9/16 - 9/20/96: 1561 - 1565 (Friday before Rosh Hashanah, but I don't think that had anything to do with it, especially since it was in its proper position)

Friday after, you mean.

I still argue that the Friday before holiday operas were just coincidence.  If they were really a tradition, it would have always or almost always been done.  But, more often than not, it was not done.

Maybe it doesn't prove it, but it suggests it, since they could have wanted it to air on holidays. But in 1996, unlike 1993, it was in its proper position.

Friday after, you mean.

I actually meant Friday before Yom Kippur.

Quote from: mitsguy2001 on June 02, 2012, 12:23:50 AMI still argue that the Friday before holiday operas were just coincidence.  If they were really a tradition, it would have always or almost always been done.  But, more often than not, it was not done.

Maybe some were coincidence and some were to follow the tradition. If this was about the Friday before Yom Kippur, it was coincidence since it's in its proper position, while others, such as the debuts of 45, 1370, 1425, and as it happens, all four post-75 operas, as well as non-debuts such as Celebrations in 1988 and Grandparents in 1991, are to follow the tradition.

What do you mean by a mini-version of 1995-96?

Quote12/13 - 12/17/99: 1526 - 1530 (Work) (therefore, again the after a holiday annual occasion week)
12/20 - 12/24/99: 1721 - 1725 (Giving & Receiving)
12/27 - 12/31/99: 1701 - 1705 (Helping) (Transformations was obviously skipped, which is somewhat surprising since only debuted recently)

I think that was probably when the original version of 1696 was banned due to the laser pointer, and they probably had not yet shot the updated version of 1696.  They probably had intended to skip Work, but then maybe pulled Transformations from the schedule at the last minute, and replaced it with Work.

Quote7/31 - 8/4/00: 1496 - 1500 (Pets) (so this is when it was moved to, though why this week was a mystery)

I'm guessing a debut was planned for that week, but never created.  They probably had originally intended to skip Pets.

Quote8/7 - 8/11/00: 1516 - 1520 (Daycare & Night Care)
8/14 - 8/18/00: 1461 - 1465 (Starting School)
8/21 - 8/25/00: 1606 - 1610 (Josephine the Short-Neck Giraffe) (So therefore, for the first time since DC&NC became a school week, these last three weeks aired in a different order than the past 3 years. And the reason why is mysterious, since they aired in this order in 2002 but not in 1996, which had the same calendars)

Probably they thought that Aug. 21-25 was too late to air Starting School.

Quote9/11 - 9/15/00: 1751 - 1755 (Curiosity) (So this became one of the school weeks, for very mysterious reasons, since I don't see at all why this has to do with school, and unlike Josephine, there's no school in it.)

Probably since kids in school should be curious.

Quote10/30 - 11/3/00: 1671 - 1675 (Things to Wear) (apart from this being in its proper position and airing the same as the previous year, this could have something to do with Halloween, as seen in later years when not in its proper position, and unlike the previous year, had all episodes air after Halloween)

In the schedule that you had sent me years ago, it showed Going Away and Coming Back airing that week.  Are you sure Things to Wear aired?  Maybe they were switched at the last minute for some reason.

Quote12/11 - 12/15/00: 1696 - 1700 (Transformations) (the reason why some of 1696 and its air date are in green are because a lot of 1696 was edited (and reshot years several years after its debut!) because for some mysterious eason, at this point airing an episode with a laser printer wasn't allowed. Also, this means Everybody's Special was skipped)

I think they pretty expicitly said that it was because some parents were concerned about the fact that guns use laser pointers, and that there was concern over the safety of laser pointers.  Not mysterious.

Quote2/19 - 2/23/01: 1576 - 1580 (Making Mistakes) (so therefore, for the first time since 1993, no President's Week debut, probably because the show was no longer making new episodes. But why Making Mistakes and not the proper position week is a mystery, especially since all weeks would be exactly one year before the previous year)

They probably planned a debut for that week, before they realized that 1765 would be the last episode.  They probably had intended to skip Making Mistakes.

Quote7/9 - 7/13/01: 1756 - 1760 (Ready to Read?) (why this week is a mystery)
7/16 - 7/20/01: 1746 - 1750 (When Things Get Broken) (why this week is a mystery. And if anything they should have been switched since that could be considered an era of two episodes in order)

Maybe since they felt the topic of reading and computers (there was a computer in 1746) would be mostly of interest to older kids who are home for the summer.

Quote7/30 - 8/3/01: 1566 - 1570 (Playthings) (so therefore this was the week it was moved to for mysterious reasons

Again, they probably planned a debut for that week, before they realized 1765 would be the last episode.  And they probably planned to skip Playthings.

But the old 1696 aired on 12/11/00! Or am I wrong about that?

I don't know for sure.  But in an interview from 1999, Fred mentioned the laser pointer issue, so it wouldn't have aired after 1999.

UUrselfRSpecial

Then if Fred's interview is from 1999, I'm sure 1/18/99 was the last of the laser pointer 1696, then 12/11/00 the new 1696's debut. And it makes sense that this is why they'd skip Transformations in 1999 - 2000, and I made the correction. I thought I remembered hearing that for some reason, the new 1696 debuted after the last episode did, making new 1696 technically the last new episode, and thinking that Fred would agree to shoot some new material and they kept the set for its post-1765 debut. But I could be wrong. But I don't think they were going to air it 12/13 - 12/17/99 and skip Work, even though they skipped Work before, even though that week would be Transformations's proper position, because Work was following the tradition of the year before and the year after of airing before or after a holiday annual occasion week. And by the way, it's great that the laser pointer wasn't discovered after 2/27/03, or Transformations would have to be banned! (or maybe even after 1765's reshooting it would be as well).

By the way, I realized that for 2 weeks in a row in the fall of 2000, 2 (out of only 3 post-75) weeks that Betty wasn't in aired in a row.  She wasn't in Growing (Sept. 18-22, 2000) or Imaginary Friends (Sept. 25-29, 2000).  I'm guessing that was the longest period ever without her being seen.  After Sept. 14, 2000, she wasn't seen again until Oct. 5, 2000!  I wonder if any kids were wondering where she was.  Maybe it would have been smart to have swapped Imaginary Friends with Up and Down.

I also wonder if, by any chance, if 1125 could have aired a week later than listed in 1982 (not saying you are wrong; just saying it would have been more interesting with respect to my personal life).

Another interesting thing about the debut if Games is that although 1983 was not a winter olympic year, if it was, it would have aired the day before the opening ceremony of the olympics (or, if in 1998 or later, the day of the opening ceremony).

I'm guessing she wasn't in 1755, 1656, 1657, and 1658, but she was in 1754 and 1659. Even though I've seen both Curiosity and Up & Down several times, I didn't remember Betty not in the episodes I listed but in the others I listed. But as for the May 17 - 21, 1993 week (Art) and the June 7 - 11 week (1386 - 1390), was she in 1642, 1643, 1644, 1645, 1386, 1387, 1388, 1389? It would be the same length if:

her only Art appearance was 1641, and she was in 1386
her last Art appearance was 1642, and her first 1386 - 1390 appearance was 1387
her last Art appearance was 1643, and her first 1386 - 1390 appearance was 1388
her last Art appearance was 1644, and her first 1386 - 1390 appearance was 1389
she was in 1645, and her only 1386 - 1390 appearance was 1390

And it would be longer than Sept. 15 - Oct. 4, 2000 if:
her only Art appearance was 1641, and she wasn't in 1386
her last Art appearance was 1641 or 1642, and her first 1386 - 1390 appearance was 1388 or later
her last Art appearance was 1643 or earlier, and her first 1386 - 1390 appearance was 1389 or 1390
she wasn't in 1645, and her only 1386 - 1390 appearance was 1390.

Would you know in what Art and 1386 - 1390 episodes she's in?

Yes, and Lincoln's Birthday was still observed in 1982, so the significance to 1971 is the same as 1982! And I think it could easily have aired one week later for completely different reasons (from the article I saw years ago, it really looks like 1191 - 1195 aired May 24 - 28, 1982, not May 17 - 21, as I have it. I'd have to think of how that could be possible.

Since she was in 1645 and was in 1386, that was not nearly as long an interval as in the fall of 2000.

That's right, since the article was dated May 20, 1982, and even though it gave no airdate, it was clearly talking about the future, not the past, so it was likely talking about May 24-28, 1982.  That means that 1125 has another significant airdate for my wife and I!

Two others that I realized: You have it airing Nov. 12, 1971.  My wife and I got married on Nov. 13, 2010 (and Nov. 12, 2010 was our rehearsal dinner!)  So our engagement, engagement party, her shower, and our rehearsal dinner were all on likely airdates of 1125!

A near miss is Mar. 30, 1984.  I met her parents on Mar. 29, 2003.

Although I do not specifically remember its 1984 airdate, I do remember very well being sick, and watching the episode in bed on a small, battery powered black and white TV.  The weather history for my area shows snow for that day, and I do vaguely remember falling asleap after 1125, and when I woke up, my parents told me that it had snowed while I was alseap.

No, you are correct.  Feb. 12, 1994 was a Saturday, and 1994 was before 1998.  I do remember the opening ceremony being on Feb. 12, 1994.

I also realized that I was wrong about 1998.  Wikipedia says the opening ceremony in 1998 was Feb. 7 (a Saturday).  So it was moved to a Friday in 2002, and Wikipedia shows that the opening ceremony in 2002 was on Feb. 8, a Friday (which I do remember).

QuoteDo you also know if in 1992 and before, the summer Olympics also started on a Saturday, not Friday? According to Wikipedia, the opening ceremony was July 25, 1992, which was a Saturday.  So you are right about 1996 being when the summer olympic opening ceremony was moved to a Friday.

mitsguy2001

By the way, another alleged airdate is the Paley Center shows 1101 as having aired Oct. 25, 1971.  Your schedule does not show it airing that date.  So are you just assuming that to be an error?  Interestingly, that is the correct day of the week (Monday).

Since I know you said that you saw 1101 at the Paley Center, do you remember if it had the trolley closing or not?  If so, then it is unlikely that what they have is from a 1971 airing, since we don't think the trolley closing was added that early, meaning the date is likely wrong.  If it does not have the trolley closing but has the 1971 PBS animation with the moog synthesizer, then it was likely an airdate between 1971 and 1975, with a possibly correct airdate.  If it has the NET animation, then it was likely its original airdate in 1970 with a wrong airdate.
