I saw that and was going to post that here.

I think it is great and cannot think of anyone better to play Mr. Rogers than Tom Hanks.

"The story will reportedly focus on the real-life friendship between Rogers and journalist Tom Junod. When the cynical journalist reluctantly accepts an assignment to do a profile on the TV personality, he quickly finds his perspective on life changed during the process."

Tom Junod wrote this article on Mr. Rogers that is available online: http://www.esquire.com/entertainment/tv/a27134/can-you-say-hero-esq1198/

According to the link on Fox news,  they are going to be releasing a documentary titled ââ,¬Å"Wonââ,¬â,,¢t You Be My Neighbor?ââ,¬Â.  It made its debut at the Sundance film festival and is set to release by Focus Features. It will chronicle Rogersââ,¬â,,¢ rise to fame as the host of an educational show for children in which he invited the characters in his neighborhood to come over, chat, learn and teach.

After all,Hanks also portrayed Walt Disney...

I admit I kind of wish it had been Michael Keaton playing Mister Rogers. Since he was actually there and worked with him, that would give him a special insight.

I'm curious to know which actor will be selected to play David Newell/Mr. Mcfeely. That's still being worked on at this stage, I think.

Casting of the extras took place on Augusr 25th in Pittsburgh. It'll be a 6 week shoot in Pittsburgh, starting in September.

I can't see any reason to make a movie about Mr. Rogers in the sense of having someone play him.

Documentaries are fine but films having someone play him just seems goofy.

This film is not a documentary. It's a true story based upon the article that was written in the Esquire magazine. The author, Tpm Jurod, did not want to initially do an interview with Mr. Rogers. But, he does it and the interview becomes much more than an interview. Mr Rogers changes his perspective of life. That makes a good movie. The film ultimately is about a special friendship that takes place. You can read the interview here:
