The Michael Kinsell incident

In 2009, 6 years after Fred Rogers death and 3 years before Daniel Tiger's Neighborhood premiered, a young man in San Diego named Michael Kinsell claimed that he would be Mister Rogers' successor, and host and huge star-studded gala honoring Rogers where he would be named his successor, officially, the only problem was he did not get approval from PBS or The Rogers family and many of the stars he said would be there knew nothing about it.

Yes, but I do! It's a case of fake fame on the internet, somebody even joked "I'm sure he has an understudy planning to move to Canada and cosplay Mr. Dressup. It's almost a given at this point."
