New here and have been a long time fan of Mister Rogers having growing up watching it since I was very little. It was probably my most favorite program to watch as a kid out of all the programs I've seen. Anyways one of my favorite episodes was when he painted the walls in his television house blue. One thing I always noticed was how this was also a transition period for the model neighborhood seen at the beginning and end of each episode. What was the reason that the model neighborhood was also changed at the same time the walls were painted blue? I was always curious about this.

Also does anyone know if the model neighborhood still exists anywhere or if there is talk of displaying it in the near future?

I hope the neighborhood models still exist. They were some of the best parts of the show.

I can only speak for the modern Neighborhood Model, but it is on display at the Fred Rogers Company.
