|THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers|
When Parents Work
When Parents Work
It can be hard for children when their parents have to go to work. Being away from loved ones can be difficult. IN his reassuring ways, Mister Rogers helps children know that when parents are working, they think about their children, and they will come back as soon as they can. Parents and children can also make the time apart easier by talking about their feelings when they are back together again.
In the Neighborhood of Make-Believe, Prince Tuesday is angry with his parents, King Friday and Queen Sara, because their work takes them away from home. But his caring neighbors help him realize that when his parents go to work, they miss him, just as he misses them.
It's difficult when children and parents have to be apart, but when we share our feelings with the people we love, it can help make those feelings much more manageable.
