Description

Step into Make-Believe for some pretend as Mister Rogers and his neighbors present two musical stories for children. Written and composed by Fred Rogers, these short "operas" are whimsical adventures built around themes of importance to the very young. They have become outstanding favorites among the programs of the Emmy award-winning children's television series, MISTER ROGERS' NEIGHBORHOOD.

At one time or another, almost every one has wished to be someone -- or something -- else. POTATO BUGS AND COWS is the musical story of a cow named Priscilla, who wishes she were a potato bug. In the end, an enterprising pilot, a helpful farmer and a caring king hold a celebration hoedown for Priscilla, who is glad at last to be exactly who she is.

In A GRANDDAD FOR DANIEL, Daniel Tiger longs for a grandfather. It takes a trolley ride with stops at an aquarium, a police station and a jungle before Daniel's satisfied. Everyone in Daniel's family feels differently about his finding a grandfather, but, as this opera suggests, a family is a family, different feelings and all.

MISTER ROGES: MUSICAL STORIES -- a video that could inspire your children to make up musical stories of their own.
