1456-1460 flashbacks
« on: June 04, 2013, 06:28:48 AM »
Wow Tim, not only have you got only 3 more 1969 episodes to go, but you've covered all of the 1969 season flashbacks from 1456-1460 as of yesterday. There was:

Mr. McFeely from 1032/1456
Lady (not to be confused with Betty) Aberlin from 1013/1457
Handyman Negri from 1002 & 1030/1458
and finally Chef Brockett from 1062/1459.

Officer Clemmons' flashback in 1460 came from 1069 from the 1970 season i believe.

Also, it's interesting that a flashback from the 1968 season (colorized) was seen in 1062. It's too bad 111 (and all other 1968 episodes) didn't air in the mid/late 70's when 1001-1130 did, so kids wouldn't get to see 111. Luckily, like the NOM baby pictures seen in the Then & Now week, i guess kids could safely assume that the visit was just an "old days" scene of the King & Queen's courtship rather than a specific episode flashback.

Yeah, only three to go. But unfortunately, I don't have 1063 at this time. I will be able to cover 1064 and 1065 in the next few days though...

From watching 1062, did you get the impression that 111 was originally shot in color (and remastered in B&W for broadcast), or was it colorized a-la Ted Turner?

I don't really have an eye for that kind of thing, but I have a hard time thinking that they would have had the budget for something like colorization.

I always found it interesting that none of the flashbacks were to any of the banned weeks.  Is that just coincidence?  Or were there flashbacks that were later removed?  Or did they ban those weeks because of the lack of flashbacks to them?  I also always wondered why 1125 was the only non-banned color pre-79 opera to not have any flashbacks to.

After the 1969 season, do you plan to continue with the episodes in order, or focus on the ones that we are especially curious about?

My plan is to keep going in chronological order. This makes it easier for me when it comes to putting together the character pages, first appearances, etc. Plus I think it's interesting to see how the show progresses from beginning to end overtime.

When you say you don't have 1063, does that mean you're unable to get that episode for whatever reason, like 1279? Or you just haven't got it yet? It's amazing none of the 1968 season or the three banned 1969 weeks were unavailable.

One other question Tim:

Is the film about how pianos are made seen in 1062 the same one seen in 111 (albeit colorized, of course)?

Also, detailing these two episodes also confirms that the clip of Lady Elaine and VC flashback in 1454 did not come from 1061 or 1062. If i had to take a guess, it may've come from 1192 or 1193.

Sadly, i guess this means the pre-79 requests thread you posted a long time ago is now useless, huh? That's a shame.

I'm glad you're doing episodes chronilogically, but there were several episodes i wanted to speak out long before the August 2012-Janurary 2013 1968 run started, but it's too late now. I don't even know fi i should even bother to explain what they were because i know that, unless some of them are from the 1970 season, nearly none of the episodes i requested will ever get detailed on this site until like 2014 or so. But then again, i wasn't a poster back then, so, just desserts.
