Back-to-back sweater episodes in threes!
« on: May 15, 2013, 10:22:11 AM »
Something interesting i noticed. It's been mentioned on this board a few times that in some episodes like 1488 & 1489, Rogers wears the same sweater on 2 episodes back-to-back. But now, i just thought've four instances where he does this three times.

Gray in 1014-1016
Harvest Gold in 1035-1037
Sky Blue/White in 1053-1055
and Sky Blue in 1555-1557.

Does anyone know/remember any others? I can't ask Tim because he's still working on adding more episodes. I know he wears the brown sweater in both Key To Otherland and 1426, but i've never seen 1427 before, so i dunno with it. Ditto the gray sweater on 1144, 1145, 1215 and 1216, but i've never seen 1143, 1146 or 1214 before (and only 1214 would be the answer to the latter, since we know from 1483's flashback in the Competition week that he wears the red one in 1217).

He does wear the navy blue sweater thrice in 1176-1180 and deep green one thrice in When Parents Go To Work (1611-1615), but they weren't back-to-back (well, 1176 & 1177 were, but not 1180).

I've read that before, it's very interesting. When Parents Go To Work, as i said, appears to be the only post-75 week where he wears the same sweater three times. If you look closely at the Josephene The Short-Neck Giraffe episodes, the deep green sweater he wears from 1608 onwards is different from the green one he wears in 1606 and earlier episodes.

I don't think it's the same one he wears in 1424, 1430, 1446 and 1455, but i could be wrong. 1349 and All In The Laundry also look similar, but it looks more blue-ish.

Anyways, in the pre-79 era, as i mentioned in another thread, it appears he didn't wear sweaters as commonly back then as he did from at least 1974 onwards, even though he's famous for wearing them a lot. Notice he doesn't on 1024, 1028-1029, 1033-1034, 1040, 1043-1045, 1049-1050 or 1052. Ironically, in two of the "banned" weeks, he only dismisses wearing a sweater once while in the ones that weren't banned that have been detailed so far, he doesn't do it more than once.
I wonder when he started wearing the neon yellow sweater (1067, 1070, 1077-1078, 1083, 1088, 1130, 1175)? For that matter, i wonder if 1022 is the only episode where he wears that weird, bizarre-looking Vandyke brown/banana yellow sweater?

BTW, somebody also wanted information on Lady Aberlin's dress colors. I think i may be able to help, just a little bit.

That lime green dress she wears in 1101, she also wears it in 1046, 1184 and 1451. That pink dress she wears in the early 80's, i've never seen it in any pre-79s, but she wears it in 1485, 1489, 1500, 1510 and 1523. The blue/orchid one with the flowers on it, she wore that in a lot of post-75 episodes. Too many to mention, basically from about 1519-1759.

As for others: I never gathered that kind of information before, but i know Chef Brockett wears a fancy square/rectangle-pattern dress shirt in 1525, 1538 and 1544.

It'd be interesting if somebody else knew more about this than i did. I just know the colors and (on rare occasions) the designs. I'm not very good at what episodes they come from (especially since i've only seen several pre-79s and for the most part, i can tell some of these things by looking at the images on the Archive).

I think they shot an entire week of episodes and later divided it into 5 episodes, which could explain some of the consecutive episodes with the same sweater.

And as Tim revealed today, he wears the harvest gold one thrice in 1056-1060 (but unlike 1035-1037, not altogether).

The Green sweaters in 1606, 1608, 1610, and 1611 were all different.

The green is a little lighter in 1606.  I wonder what happened to this light green sweater?  Almost like it was dyed to be the 1611 sweater?

1587, 1608, 1610, 1613, 1620, 1625, 1631, 1643, 1683, 1686 were the darker green sweater.  It was a different color than the 1611 sweater!

I wonder why he was so limited in the 1969 and 1986 seasons? If it's not wearing one color three tims in a row or in the same week, he very often dismissed wearing a sweater in earlier episodes. Just count how many sweaters he wears in 1061-1065. I wonder if that also has anything to do with shooting? Interestingly, the oft reason he gave for not wearing a sweater was that he was doing something scientific or dirty (such as digging, planting, painting, ect.). Funny, if that was so risky, i wonder why that didn't stop him from wearing a sweater in later years (wearing a purple sweater while working with food-coloring, red sweater while finger-painting, light gray sweater while planting an orange seed, ect.)?
