50th Anniversary of MRN
« on: April 09, 2016, 08:47:38 AM »
I was thinking about this not too long ago, that depending on which way you look at it, Fred Rogers Company, I think uses 1967 as the year that MRN started, though some would argue that it started earlier on the EEN network and then some will argue that it started in 1968.  Also there are elements of MRN even as far back as the 1950s when Fred and Josie did the Children's Corner.  Even though episodes stopped being made in 2001, next year or two will be the 50th anniversary, birthday or whatever of the program.  Quite an impressive number even surpassing Sesame Street.

On February 19th 2018, it will be the 50th anniversary of Mister Rogers' Neighborhood. That's the official date of when Mister Rogers' Neighborhood began. The Fred Rogers Company is currently busy making plans for next year.

I've heard that as well.  I can't remember exactly where I heard it, but FRC (formerly FCI) is planning something.
