I would love to find any episodes where the lovely Ornithorhynchus anatinus song was sung but so far I've not come across a single one.
I know this was not just sung only once because it was such an important song from the show to my family years ago.
We must have seen it being featured on episodes often for it to stick in my mind for all these years.
My youngest daughter only knows the song because I've sung it to her now and then.
Tim? Any info on what block of shows where I might find it?

I've yet to come across an episode with this song; although you'd be surprised who many people I've heard from who have asked about this same thing.

I still have quite a few pre-1979 episodes on hand to get on the archive site as well as the rest of the episodes from 1979 and beyond. Maybe it will show up in one of those. Otherwise, there should be a new batch of episodes coming to Amazon at some point. Hopefully somewhere in all of that it'll show up!

I've been looking for it too! Though I do notice that it crops up in Johnny Costa's underscore for the Neighborhood from time to time, usually when Anna is onscreen or more often when she's being talked about.

I have a friend who's a bit older than I, and he told me they would watch Mr. Rogers in class each day, and he remembers that they all had to learn the Ornithorincus Anatinus song.

only a guess, but soon after Prince Tuesday is born, Anna Platypus is born.  I'm thinking it may have originated as part of the celebration of her birth

Ana sings a song to Lady A the night before Ana's Birthday. It's on the PBS website, incidentally voted the fan favorite. I hope that helps. Sorry, I know that's not the Ornithorhynchus anatinus song, but it's a beautiful song.

Actually, Prince Tuesday was born shortly after Ana was born.  Ana ws born in Episode 1104, Tuesday was born in Episode 1117.  In fact, one of the main plots was King Friday being jealous that Ana would be born before Tuesday.

The song you are thinking of was used in 1105, the day after she was born.

The song that silentxero is referring to is "All the Pretty Little Horses". It is an African-American lullaby first sung many years ago by a slave who was taking care of her master's child and was unable to take care of her own baby. Beautiful piece of music if I do say so myself.

Wonderful link to Joan Baez singing this one.
Sage and I watched the MRN episode and I was overcome with this song.
I had no idea it was an African American lullaby.
Thank you all for this information.
It's beyond lovely.
