That Potato Thing
« on: September 18, 2011, 08:23:34 PM »
In the older episodes, in Someplace Else, there was this potato machine that H.E. Cow and the Donkey operated.  Bob Trow had it in his workshop in a 1975 eps that's on Amazon.  I saw it again in the School episodes, while the school house was being built.  I don't think we saw it beyond that episode ever again.

Anyone know the full name of this machine?  When did it first appear?  What was its purpose?  Were there any appearances after the School Week?

It's called the washer-dryer-sorter-dumper. It's purpose is to wash, dry, and sort the potatos and then dump them into the potato cars (they use the trolley track). Bob Trow gives a great description when he has it in his workshop. It also appears in episode 1667 (Then and Now). I'll see if I can post a clip of Bob Trow demonstating it if you want...

I loved that machine. It's neat to see how it was manually operated- I think as a kid I thought it was all motorized. Love those flat 70's colors that were on all MRN props.
