Who or what is Gauby? Episode 1697- Transformations
« on: August 16, 2011, 04:36:28 PM »
At the end of this episode, Fred shows Mr. McFeely a caterpillar doll that unzips and folds inside out to become a butterfly. He tells Mr. McFeeley that it's from "Gauby" (my spelling), who Mr. McFeeley says lives in the north part of their neighborhood. Does anyone know who Gauby might be? Just a Rogers family friend who made this butterfly, maybe?

It could posssibly refer to Gabby Hayes, but I wouldn't think so.

It's more than likely random.  They throw in names occasionally.

The way they pronounce it, the au in Gauby sounds like the ou in out, not like the a in cat, as Gabby Hayes would be pronounced. While there may be no serious importance attached to the reference, it doesn't sound like they just made up a name. I'm fairly certain whoever it is, was really responsible for the butterfly.
