Paul gets the cookie, it was Fred Telecan.  It flashes when someone in the NOMB calls.  AKA use of audience participation the show was known for.  :)

I don't ever remember the traffic light being used that way.  In what episodes have you seen it used that way?  Was it only in the 1968 and 1969 episodes?

Here is a good trivia question: What is the only year (since 1979) in which the Starting School week (Episodes 1461-1465) did not air?  And what is the most likely reason why it did not air?

I would have to say the summer of 1989. That was the yr the entire 1970 season had aired minus
1071-1075. I wonder if they knew by that time this was the last time reruns from that far back
would ever air again on PBS? I am guessing they did not want to interrupt weeks between the
1970 to break for 1979 episodes. To allow the 1970 season to air without any confusion to a
younger viewer. Also Josephine The Short Neck Giraffe had aired in May that same yr was the
debut. That had a school theme as well in that muscial story.

That is correct!  Interestingly, the previous time that the 1970 season reran (in the summer of 1986), Starting School did air.  But it aired in between 1120 and 1121, so it at least didn't interrupt the pregnancy plot.  Though I wonder if maybe kids did still find it confusing for Tuesdan and Ana to go from infants to school age and back to infants again.  Strangely, I don't remember it airing in 1986, even though I watched MRN regularly that summer.  I wonder if maybe I was on vacation that week.

Here is another good trivia question: who is the first character in the series to sing the "You are pretty" song?  And who does he or she sing it to?

Nope.  Sorry.

By the way, after how many incorrect guesses should I give the correct answer?

Lady A singing to Henrietta?

I'd say wait a day or two before giving the answer.

Since nobody has guessed correctly yet, I'm going to give a hint: its lyrics weren't exactly the same as the familiar version of that song, and its first word wasn't even "You".

Since nobody has answered correctly, I'll give the answer: it was Henrietta singing it to Lady Aberlin.

To explain further, it was in Episode 1088, from the 1970 season.  Betty Aberlin visits Fred and gives him a black angel fish for his aquarium (she is also wearing black, but I don't know if there is any significance to that).  In the NOM, Lady Aberlin dresses as a black angel fish, who swims around the world searching for owls and pussycats.  X and Henrietta are afraid that the fish is going to eat them.  But then the fish says that she doesn't eat owls and pussycats, but she kisses them.  When she kisses X and Henrietta, they realize that it's Lady Aberlin.  Henrietta then sings the "You are pretty song" to Lady Aberlin, but of course sings it with meows, "Meow meow pretty, meow meow black . . . "  Lady Aberlin then points it out that she can sing the same song to her, and then sings the familiar version.  X the Owl then points out that nobody has ever sang a song about how he is blue, so Lady Aberlin then sings a version of the song for X.  Later in the episode, back at Fred's house, Fred sings that song to the black angel fish that Betty gave him.  So, this episode uses 4 different versions of that song, and is first sung by Henrietta!
