Title: Planet Purple & Texas Instruments
Post by: Neighborhood Archive on August 27, 2011, 06:45:38 AM
I recently picked up a copy of the Planet Purple book that was part of the Texas Instruments Speaking Library series.

Does anyone have this book along with one of the TI Magic Wand readers? I'd be very interested to hear what the audio that is read actually sounds like. Is it a human voice and sound effects or is it a computerized voice along the lines of a Speak & Spell?

I had a wand like thing that had a light on the bottom of it in which it beeped like crazy, I can't remember what it was called.  I think Texas Instruments put it out.  "Tron" something or another.  It was an early 1980s toy with various books.  Mine just beeped an octave up and an octave down.  As you read the book it would ask you a question and you had to answer using the wand.
