Title: Johnny Costa Plays Mister Rogers' Neighborhood
Post by: galenfott on March 22, 2016, 11:26:32 AM
From an image on www.johnnycosta.com, it would appear that this album was in fact once released on CD. Anyone have any info about the CD release?

Funny, this page has the same image, which is clearly of a CD, but calls it an LP and audiocassette release.

When I was hunting down for a copy, I never saw evidence of a CD or cassette, just vinyl, which is what I eventually got. I feel like '85 was a little early for a CD release; this wasn't a blockbuster album. I worked at a chain store's music department, and in 1995 the music releases were still 50/50 casssette/CD. That picture you linked could be a CD-R that was burned later, or a CD from the studio that the Costa family had. AllMusic lists an LP release only (http://www.allmusic.com/album/plays-mister-rogers-neighborhood-mw0000967650/releases).

Another note: Most places list it as "Johnny Costa plays Mister Rogers' Neighborhood" but they eliminate that "Jazz" from the end. It's right on the cover!

It's a fantastic album.
