Daniel's Allergy

Title Daniel's Allergy
Allergies at School
Air Date September 7, 2016
Songs It's a Beautiful Day in the Neighborhood;

If You Have an Allergy
Strategy "We take care of each other."

Daniel Tiger is playing doctor and pretends to give a check-up to Margaret. Joining his parents in the kitchen, everyone prepares to make a peach pie for Daniel's class. After sampling the peaches, Daniel starts to feel itchy as red bumps appear on his face.

At Doctor Anna's office, an examination shows that Daniel is allergic to peaches. She gives him some medicine that will help him feel better in no time. Daniel is given a few rules to help take care of himself in light of his allergy: 1. Don't eat peaches, 2. If you don't feel well, tell a grown-up, 3. Ask before you eat something new.

On the way home, Daniel make-believes that he is eating all kinds of food...but not peaches.

Back at his house, Daniel Tiger shares the three rules with his mom. Mom Tiger helps him find a different treat he can make for his class and they begin making banana bread muffins. Daniel makes sure there are no peaches in the jam before he puts any on his muffin.

Live Action Segment

The live action segment following this episode includes a boy who brings his own lunch to school due to his food allergies.

Notes

  • Much like the make-believe segment in Episode 135b, Daniel moving among various foods is somewhat reminiscent of the Nintendo game Super Mario Brothers.
