THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers

Teacher Harriet's New Hairdo

Episode 301
Title No Red Sweater For Daniel
Teacher Harriet's New Hairdo
Air Date September 5, 2016

Daniel Tiger has made a picture of Teacher Harriet to give to show appreciation to his favorite teacher. Walking through his classroom, Daniel is slightly confused when he finds that Teacher Harriet is wearing her hair in a bun. She explains that she may look different on the outside, she's still the same Teacher Harriet on the inside. She is delighted when Daniel gives her the picture he made.

Prince Wednesday's cousin Chrissie is helping out in Daniel's classroom today and plays with Daniel and his friends as they pretend to give each other new hair styles. When Daniel doesn't like style Chrissie creates for him, Teacher Harriet reminds him that he's still the same Daniel on the inside.

Daniel make-believes that he is giving many different hair styles to Tigey.

King Friday XIII arrives to pick up Prince Wednesday and Chrissie a little early and creates some confusion since he is not wearing his robe and crown. Instead, he is wearing his "royal bowling clothes" but assures Daniel and his friends that he's still the same King inside.

Strategy

  • "You can change your hair or what you wear, but no matter what you do, you're still you."
