THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers

Neighborhood Clean Up

Episode 123
Title Clean Up Time
Neighbohrood Clean Up
Air Date April 22, 2013

Daniel Tiger and Katerian Kittycat are headed to the playground for a picnic with Mom Tiger and Dad Tiger. They notice on their way that the wind is still blowing after last night's wind storm.

At the playground, everyone is disappointed to find that the wind has littered the area with sticks, leaves, and trash. As others arrive, King Friday and Queen Sara ask for everyone's help to "clean up, pick up, put away" and declare it Clean Up Day.

With clean up kits -- gloves and bags -- everyone works together to pick up the playground. As they clean, X the Owl encourages others to recycle materials that can be used again. Daniel make-believes that the recycle bins come to life and help him recycle.

Twirling about rather than cleaning, Katerina finally realizes that she should be doing her part to help. When everyone does their part, the playground looks beautiful once again.

Mom Tiger is happy to provide a Clean Up Day snack and is quick to remind everyone to put their waste in its proper place.

Strategy

  • "Clean up, pick up, put away. Clean up every day."
