|THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers|
Be a Vegetable Taster!
Daniel and his classmates are in the vegetable garden at school. Having planted and cared for the vegetables, the children are excited to taste the vegetables -- everyone except Katerina Kittycat.
Daniel and Miss Elaina pick cherry tomatoes and are encouraged by Teacher Harriett to taste them. Daniel likes them but Miss Elaina does not. Katerina decides that she is not ready to taste a cherry tomato.
Moving on, the children are amazed to find that the carrots grow underground. Katerina enjoys pulling the carrots out but is not interested in tasting one. Meanwhile, Daniel make-believes that he is underground with the carrots.
When the other children taste the carrots, Teacher Harriet reminds them that they should try new foods because they might taste good. Still, Katerina does not want to try it.
Finally, picking some bell peppers, Katerina decides to taste something new and is surprised to find that she really likes peppers. From there, she tastes the other vegetables -- some she likes and some she doesn't. Teacher Harriet compliments her for trying new things.
