THE NEIGHBORHOOD ARCHIVE - All Things Mister Rogers

Daniel is Big Enough to Help Dad

Episode 112
Title Fruit Picking Day
Daniel is Big Enough to Help Dad
Air Date September 18, 2012

Dad Tiger is building a playhouse for Daniel and is just about to hang the door. Daniel helps by holding the door in place.

They decide to paint the door red as Daniel make-believes that he is able to paint with his whole body. When the door is painted, Daniel retrieves the blue paint for the window and the yellow paint for the door frame.

When it comes time to install the doorbell, Daniel is given the job of collecting all of the materials needed. Going inside to get some glue, Daniel finds that it is already being used by his mom who is fixing a cabinet. When the doorknob rolls under a table, Daniel's hand is just the right size to reach. Daniel holds the door as Mom Tiger fixes the door knob.

Back outside, Dad Tiger installs the doorknob before they all sing about ways that children can help grown-ups.

Strategy

  • "Everyone is big enough, big enough to do something."
